Scholarships

The Youth Orchestras of Prince William provides financial assistance to student musicians who wish to participate but may have limited resources. These scholarships are funded by donations from YOPW's Sponsor-a-Child program and from a generous grant from the Community Impact Fund of the United Way of the National Capital Area. All members, new or returning, may apply for these scholarships. Scholarships are awarded based on a recommendations from the Scholarship Committee and available funds. Please apply early if you are interested.

Scholarship 2012-2013

The Joy Yi Scholarship Award, given in memory of YSO violinist Joy Yi, is to be given to a deserving, talented member of the Youth Orchestras of Prince William who demonstrates a serious interest in music. One scholarship of $200 will be awarded to a musician selected by the Joy Yi Scholarship Committee and applied to his/her YOPW tuition. This scholarship will continue annually for as long as funds are available. The Youth Orchestras of Prince William will host a benefit concert each season to raise funds for this scholarship. Applications are due no later than September 1 for this scholarship opportunity.
